Hungarian Olympic Committee launches new brand

The Hungarian Olympic Committee writes sports history in Hungary with the landmark launch of Magyarock, an athlete and fan lifestyle brand.

Following in the footsteps of TeamGB and TeamDeutschland, the launch of the IOC-approved brand three years in the making hails a new era on the Hungarian market as this is the only brand that unifies people which has never been more important amid these unprecedented times.

Magyarock, referring to Hungarians (“magyarok”) in Hungarian, was launched with a press conference, at which President Krisztián Kulcsár said „I have been in service of the Olympic Movement my whole life, be it as a fencer or sports leader and now as President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee. This new brand is very close to my heart so I look forward with great pleasure to working on this brand and around these values”.

HOC Secretary General Bálint Vékássy said that “this notion of us all being Hungarians is what unifies us regardless of clubs, religion or the colour of our skin. This is the cause we aspire to champion. Our objective with this fan brand is to convey the century-old message of the Olympic Movement. We wish to show people how much Olympic values mean to us and to tell athletes and fans that we are here, here with you. We are one, ready to overcome any obstacle, not only on the way to the next Olympic Games but every day of the year”.

The launch marks the official split between brand and institutional communications and channels, as Magyarock features a new Instagram, Facebook and YouTube channel and also a website that promotes the Instagram posts of Hungarian athletes and Olympics, the official IOC Instagram page. Magyarock-themed merchandise will also become available for purchase later this year.

This great milestone marks the beginning of five-ring-quality lifestyle content with elite athletes as Magyarock embodies the values of excellence, friendship and respect and promotes the noble causes of inclusivity, belonging and a sense of community not only for athletes and fans but ultimately for every Hungarian.

The brand statement also promotes a sense of togetherness, standing shoulder to shoulder: „We are sport. True performance, beyond ourselves. Different we might be, champions or rookies, athletes or fans, as a team we are one in victory or defeat. And when we are one, we rock. MAGYAROCK. WE ROCK.”
